Connect Perfect Memory to ChatGPT
ChatGPT can connect to Perfect Memory as a custom MCP connector, letting it search your screen history and meetings. You'll use the same address as every other client, and sign in with your Perfect Memory account. New to MCP? Start with how it works.
Heads up: custom MCP connectors in ChatGPT are a developer feature and aren't available on every plan. They're offered on paid tiers (such as Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise) and may need to be enabled by a workspace admin. OpenAI changes this UI from time to time, so the exact menu names below may differ slightly — look for “Connectors” and “Developer mode” in settings.
1. Add Perfect Memory as a connector
- Open Settings in ChatGPT.
- Go to Connectors and, if shown, enable Developer mode (under Advanced).
- Choose Create / Add custom connector.
- Name it Perfect Memory and paste this as the MCP server URL:
https://proxy.perfectmemory.ai/api/mcp- For authentication, choose OAuth.
- Save. A Perfect Memory page opens: sign in, choose what ChatGPT can read — screen history, meetings, or both — and click Allow.
- Enable the connector in a new chat (in composer tools, turn on Perfect Memory).
2. Turn on the MCP server in the app
On the PC running Perfect Memory, open Settings → Advanced and turn on “Enable MCP server”. On your account page, the status pill turns green (App connected) once the app is online. Searches only work while the app is running.
3. Ask ChatGPT
Try “Search my screen history for the pricing page I read this morning” or “What were the action items from my last meeting?” ChatGPT will call Perfect Memory and answer from your own data.
Troubleshooting
- No “custom connector” option — your plan or workspace may not have developer connectors enabled. Check with your admin or try a different paid plan.
- “App not connected” — make sure Perfect Memory is running with Enable MCP server on; the pill on your account page should be green.
- Asked to sign in again — the connection was disconnected on your account page, or it expired. Open the connector in ChatGPT's settings and connect it again.
- ChatGPT can't see your meetings (or your screen history) — that box was unticked when you connected. Disconnect ChatGPT under Connected apps on your account page, then connect again and tick both.
- Set up with a URL ending in
/u/…— that older setup keeps working. To switch, delete the connector and add it again with the address above.
